Haiti Appeal

At the community meeting on Tuesday 19th January, Emmaus Cambridge Companions agreed that we should do something to help the people of Haiti.  Therefore all of the proceeds from the sale of second hand goods on Saturday 23 January will be sent to the DEC appeal for Haiti.  In addition, if people want to make donations in the shop, this money will be added to the sum we will send.  All prices of second-hand goods will be reduced by 25% so perhaps you would like to consider putting the 25% into the pot for donations (with a gift aid form to make it even more valuable!)

The shop will be open from 9am to 5pm - please support us and the people of Haiti.

Senior Deputy Community Leader

Emmaus Cambridge is a registered charity providing a place to live and work for previously homeless people by collecting donated goods from the public and selling them through our shop just outside Cambridge.  Our leadership team lives within the community in self-contained flats to share in its off-duty life as well as the day to day business.  We are now looking for a Senior Deputy Community Leader to join the team.  The post is preferably live-in but this is not essential and comes with a competitive package that reflects the level of responsibility for the post.  The Senior Deputy Community Leader will take overall responsibility for the provision of support, pastoral case and continuing development for all residents including those requiring 'detox' support.  Experience in drug/alcohol work, psychiatric care or nursing experience would be advantageous together with a sound knowledge of the issues facing street homeless people, ex-prisoners and those with mental health problems.

For further information see the following information or contact Sue Nelms on 01223 863657 option 3 or Simon Grainge on 01223 863657 option 5 for an informal chat about the role.

Gift Vouchers

Over the years we have been asked many times if we sell gift vouchers so this year we have decided to introduce this facility.  The vouchers are priced at £1, £5 and £10 so we hope that this will enable us to be flexible over their sale and use.  The vouchers will be valid for 12 months from the date of purchase in the main shop but will not be valid in the Coffee Shop.

Christmas Cards

For those of you who like to spread the cost of Christmas by ordering early, our cards are now availble both in our shop and by post.  To see what is available click Christmas Card Order Form (Adobe/PDF, 457KB) for this year's selection.
