Welcome to the Emmaus Cambridge Community
The Emmaus project at Landbeach was the first to be established in the UK. Opened in 1992 by Terry Waite CBE, the Community is home to up to thirty people who were formerly homeless. The community is situated in the village of Landbeach, just north of Cambridge itself, and works closely with other organizations in the area to support those people who are homeless or trapped by poverty.
Our normal opening hours are
Monday to Friday 10am - 5pm
Saturday 9am - 5pm; we are closed on Sundays
The Emmaus Cambridge Community shop is is an Aladdin’s cave full of treasures! We sell all manner of recycled goods from furniture, bric-a-brac, records and books to cookers, fridges and washing machines, electrical goods and bicycles to name but a few. You can find out more here. The shop is open Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm and Saturday 9am to 5pm.
We welcome donations of all sorts of items.
For more information see our list here.
How to find us
The community is situated just off the A10 about 3 miles north of the Milton junction of the A14. Although the community can be seen from the A10, the entrance is from the minor road to Landbeach (signposted Landbeach and Cottenham), about 100 metres from its junction with the A10 - follow this link to the Ordnance Survey map http://getamap.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/getamap/frames.htm?mapAction=gaz&gazName=pc&gazString=CB25%209FD (ignore the pink spot and look for the word Emmaus next to the A10 instead) or see our map for Directions (Adobe/PDF, 23KB).
Approaching from the South, leave the A14 at Milton junction and head north on the A10 towards Ely. Count the signs to Landbeach and at the third sign (about one mile north of the Slap Up Tandoori Restaurant) turn left onto the minor road. Turn left again into the community at the gate about 100 metres from the junction.
Approaching from the North, drive south on the A10 from Ely to the Stretham roundabout (junction of A10 and A1123). Continue on the A10 to the Research park roundabout (about 5 miles) and remain on the A10. At the first sign to Landbeach (about 1 mile south of the Research park roundabout) turn right onto the minor road towards Landbeach. Turn left into the community at the gate about 100 metres from the junction.
If you use satnav, some systems take you to the other end of Green End - it might be worth remembering that we are next to the A10 and not in Landbeach village itself so if you find yourself in the village, just aim back to the A10.
